Today Was One Of Those Super Days
I am almost kinda sad its over…because today was really a super day.
I started off with a power walk at 6:15 AM. That is what I call my 3 times per week intense 1 hour work-outs, where I walk for at least one hour and at a fast enough pace to get my heart pumping. After that work out I feel like I am twenty-something ( instead of the forty something that is mentioned in my passport). There just is no better way to start the day.
I drink lots of water before and after my work out to make sure I stay hydrated, adding a table spoon of pure ( unsweetened) cranberry to the water to make it even more delicious ( and good for weight loss too). After 30 minutes of meditation and spiritual reflection, I was ready to dig into my "to do" list…and boy did I dig in.
I am proud to say that I was able to cross off every thing on my list, which is not something I can boast about everyday. More often than not, I have to "carry over" several items to another day. Not so today. By late afternoon, I decided that I should "reward" myself after such a super day. But what would be a fitting treat, that would not add weight, could be done in 30 minutes or less and wont break the bank?
Dark Chocolate!!! A few days ago I did some research on the health benefits of dark chocolate . Guess what? Just within a stones throw away from my office, there is a Belgian chocolate shop. I strolled across and made a selection of strawberry, Vanilla, and Amaretto filled dark chocolates. They weren't cheap, but today is special and I deserve it, so I splurged on myself. I ate just one chocolate and I will say this, that vanilla filled dark chocolate was absolutely delicious….. and what's more….I do not have to feel guilty about gaining weight or eating unhealthy, since dark chocolate is actually good for you !
Sometimes it's easy to get so busy and stressed by the daily grind that we forget to "celebrate" the super days in between. There is so much to be thankful for….and at forty-something, I have learned to count my blessings…one day at a time.
