Heartburn Caused By Allergies: Getting To The Heart Of The Problem

April 28th, 2008 admin Posted in Allergies No Comments »

Most likely, if you visit a doctor and complain of heartburn, he will advise you to lay off caffeine, alcohol, fatty foods, smoking, etc.  That would be excellent advice.  But what about the kind of bread you eat every morning, or the glass of milk you drink before bedtime.  They may also be responsible for your digestive trouble.  Many of us may not know it but heartburn caused by allergies  and food intolerances, may be more common than  you think.

Food Allergies Can Also Be A Cause Of Heartburn

Certain foods and beverages, chocolates, peppermint, fried or fatty foods, coffee, garlic, onions, alcoholic drinks are known to increase acid content in the stomach.  Acidic foods like citrus and tomato products increase acid content in the stomach.  Carbonated beverages bloat the stomach and put pressure on the intestines which forces the acid content in the stomach to rise, causing discomfort and pain in the chest.  Heartburn caused by food allergies may also be responsible for some causes of gastroesophageal reflux disease in adults and children. Reactions To Allergies Can Be Serious

March 12th, 2008 Darlyn Posted in Allergies No Comments »

Allergies are something many people suffer from – they are caused by your immune system reacting to something that is harmless in an unusual way.  It is not clear why allergies occur, but thankfully for most people the reactions are little more than some sneezing, or an itchy rash.

There are other people who are not so lucky, however.  One of the most famous allergies that can cause a very serious reaction is peanuts, however serious reactions can occur from any allergy. For instance, anaphylactic shock is a potentially fatal allergic reaction that must be treated quickly with adrenaline.

Our Natural Defense Systems Work Hard

It is commonly believed that allergies are caused by an immune problems that recognizes something as a threat in some people and not in others. When the immune system detects what it believes to be a threat to the body, it take steps to combat the perceived intruder. In a way, that is a good thing, since out bodies' natural defense mechanisms protect us from threats which initially we may not even be aware of. Read the rest of this entry »

Is There A Relationship Between Allergies And Frequent Urination?

January 31st, 2008 admin Posted in Allergies No Comments »

Most people experience frequent urination as a result of  urinary tract infections, prostate problems, diabetes and other health conditions.  But may be another reason that you may be experiencing frequent urination.  Did you know that allergies and frequent urination can go hand in hand?  Depending on the source of the allergic trigger many people may have to endure the discomfort of frequent urination. That trigger if often caused by allergies to various types of food.

Celiac Issues Can Cause Frequent Urination

People with celiac disease have a problem with the digestion of gluten products and any ingestion of such products can cause a variety of intestinal issues. A byproduct of this condition with some people is frequent urination. Many foods like bread and pasta contain wheat flour which has gluten properties in it.  This can trigger an allergic reaction when eaten. Wheat based allergies and frequent urination may therefore be related.  The only way to alleviate the symptoms may be to choose a totally gluten free diet.

Does Your Diet Include High Acid Food And Drink?

Ever heard the phrase "you are what you eat"? When it comes to allergies, this takes on extra special meaning.  Your regular diet could have many potential allergic triggers which can cause frequent potty breaks. Mostly food and drink high in acids can cause allergies and frequent urination but many people may not be aware of this relationship.  It will take extra effort such to pinpoint the causes of your allergies and frequent urination.  That would include  daily food and drink journals, cataloging everything consumed can the cause of these allergies and frequent urination be pinpointed.

While this food and drink high in acid may not upset the stomach, the way your body digests it could trigger some type of allergic reaction causing the excessive bathroom breaks. No one really knows why this occurs but if frequent urination is interrupting your life,  try banning high acidic foods and drinks like salsa, sodas, teas, coffee and cranberry juice from your diet.  That simple act alone may make a world of a difference.

Allergies and Frequent Urination: The Theories & Guess Work

November 25th, 2007 admin Posted in Allergies No Comments »

The relationship between allergies and frequent urination is still somewhat nebulous.  Some people are just more sensitive than others and  seem to have atypical allergic reactions to various substances. The basic consensus is that whatever allergic trigger you have creates a chemical chain reaction in your body.

Some people may form hives from eating certain foods while others have diarrhea, nausea and abdominal cramping. The same food that caused the allergies and frequent urination may not do the same thing later when consumed again. Your body is really one big biological, chemical being and your immune system could have simply been malfunctioning at one point.

The Role Of  Allergy Medications

There may be yet another cause to  your allergies and frequent urination.  It may also be a reaction to the medication used to treat the allergies in the first place. Not all drugs are infallible and many of them come with a laundry list of side effects, one of which could be frequent urination. If frequent urination is a problem, be sure to rule out other major health conditions like an enlarged prostate or urinary tract infection first.  If the frequent urination continues, it may then be an allergic reaction to some food or drink, or an unwelcome reaction to medication you may be using.  Ask your doctor to consider all the possibilities!

Easy & Effective Ways To Reduce Allergy Problems

November 12th, 2007 Darlyn Posted in Allergies No Comments »

Dust and dust mites are another common allergy, as is pollen from indoor plants.  These allergies can flair up after doing some basic chores such as sweeping or vacuuming – but that does not mean you can escape this chore!  You can get vacuum cleaners with built in filters that will trap the dust, preventing you from being exposed to it, and reducing the chances of an allergic reaction.

Diagnosing Your Case With Allergy Tests

There are a few tests that help determine if a person’s symptoms are caused by allergies but the most reliable is the skin prick test, conducted under the watchful eye of an allergy specialist. Items known to cause allergies are injected into the skin through a series of needles and the reaction to the individual items are monitored to verify the reaction. Once a cause is determined, the person can take steps to avoid exposure to that item. Read the rest of this entry »
