You could  improve the curriculum with some online courses – there are lots of distance learning classes available – some of them are free, but some of them – especially if they lead to a recognized qualification, will cost money.  The cost will be worth it to challenge your child and improve their educational experience.

Check with your local school as they may have a distance learning, or 'outreach' component too – this will give you more options for courses, and allow your child to tailor their curriculum to their tastes, letting them specialize in things that interest them, and perhaps allowing them to progress at a faster pace than they would if they were learning entirely at home. While home schooling is a great choice for many families, it can become difficult in the high school years.  Students who have been home schooled for most of their lives may want to head to a public school for more socialization opportunities, or to take higher level classes.  Conversely, home schooling can be a preferred option for some students in the high school years, if they want to take a more challenging curriculum than the one offered at the local high school.

First: The Academic Reasons

Studies have been done, and the results are in.  It's a proven fact that home schooled students receive better test grades than their public school counterparts. This can be a result of the personal one-on-one attention each child has, or it can be because the home school environment is more learner-friendly. That simply means that a child can learn easier in an atmosphere that is free from the stress factors that are in traditional classrooms.
