As many as 1 in 10 couples suffer from infertility. This is defined as being unable to conceive a child after 12 months of properly timed intercourse. When faced with infertility, many people turn to high-tech treatments such as artificial insemination or in vitro fertilization. Such treatments are very expensive, and not every couple who wishes to have a child is willing, or able, to pay the prices charged by physicians offering such treatments.
There may be other reasons you do not wish to use high-tech methods to achieve pregnancy – religious beliefs, for example. If you are unable to, or do not wish to, use artificial insemination or in vitro fertilization, then acupuncture could be an interesting and appropriate alternative.
