It's easy to get drawn into a negative relationship. It may have started out seemingly perfect, but things seemed to change overnight. It may be time to decide whether or not the positive attributes outweigh the negative ones when it comes to your relationship choices.

If you're unhappy and emotionally drained after a break up, you might not be feeling too optimistic about throwing yourself back out there. However, opening yourself up to new opportunities is the only way you're going to reach the happiness you seek.

The best thing you can do is to educate yourself well enough to know what to look for and what to avoid. It's not a fail-proof plan, but by following certain strategies, you can increase your chances of a lasting relationship.

How many times have you heard that compromising is important in a marriage?  Obviously in any relationship there's going to be a measure of compromising, but just knowing how important it is doesn't mean that a couple knows how to actually go about doing that!

Compromising is somewhat easier if a couple want similar things; you both want a warm beach vacation but he wants Jamaica while you want Hawaii, so you compromise and go on a cruise to the Bahamas.  That's easy enough, but what about when your interests are at opposite ends of the spectrum?  He wants a vacation to New York City and she wants to camp in the wilderness for a week; now what?

How do you know when you've found your soul mate?

Some people will tell you that they "just know", while others can identify several characteristics and reasons why they seem to perfectly mesh with their relationship counterpart.

For those of us who haven't found a soul mate yet, there are things we can be looking for to speed up the process. There are always going to be things we like and dislike about others, but the true test is deciding whether or not we can lovingly accept the negative attributes.

Sometimes we care about someone very much, but discover that there is some factor that we simply cannot accept for one reason or another.
