Once you decide that you want to quit smoking, the next thing to do is to plan it out. This means selecting what we call a "Quit Day", the date when you will begin the process of quitting. Part of the planning phase should also include talking about your decision to stop smoking with your family. This is important. One important thing to know about how to stop smoking is that your family members (e.g. your spouse) must also be ready to quit as well ( if they smoke too) or at least do their best to support you in your decision to stop smoking.
Why not talk about your desire to stop smoking with your lived ones. Since you will need their help and support, its important that they know ahead of time. They may need to adjust family activities to avoid places and environments that where you might be tempted to light up again. They may need to get accustomed to the fact, that you will no longer allow them to smoke in your home. They will need to prepare for the fact that you may be edgy and grumpy while experiencing the detoxification process.
When It Comes To Smoking, It Good To Be A Quitter!
Many would-be quitters fail because the family isn’t supportive of his desire to quit. This means that family members may say something like, “I’ll go buy them for you if you stop being so grumpy”. Supporting the smoker through the difficult times and encouraging them will be a large but important task for the family.
So how to stop smoking? There is no easy answer to that question. The best we can say is that it is not easy, but it isn’t impossible either. Remember this, many other people have beaten this addiction and gone on to a happy and healthy life. You can too! It can be done! Once you achieve your goal to stop smoking you can be proud of the accomplishment and feel great that you are improving your health and the health of those around you.
It's not often that you will be encouraged to be a quitter. But when it comes to smoking, we strongly encourage it. So be determined to quit smoking.
