Anyone who snores may be constantly on the lookout for any remedy that might help. Those who sleep with someone who snores may be even more motivated to find anti-snoring remedies, so that everyone can get a good night's rest. Over the years many contraptions and medications have been touted as the perfect anti snoring device, and while some may work sometimes, it is hard to find one that works all the time.
But why do people snore in the first place? When a person falls asleep, their body becomes completely relaxed. Typically, when they breathe the soft tissue in the upper palate will vibrate causing the noise known as snoring. Truth is, just about everyone snores occasionally. However about 45 million people suffer from severe snoring. And perhaps we should double that number since their bed partners suffer right along with them. No wonder that are so eager to find snoring remedies.
While snoring can be an incredibly sleep-depriving distraction for the bed partner, it may be even more worrisome for the snorer. Severe snoring could be a sign of a serious medical condition known as obstructive sleep apnea. Snoring is a loud (sometimes VERY loud) reminder that someone is having difficulty breathing while they sleep. The obstruction is depriving them of air and they typically will partially awaken during the night to breathe. Sometimes they will wake up hundreds of times during the night and have no memory of their sleep being disrupted.
If you snore, it may be time to take a closer look at anti-snoring remedies, if not for your own health, then at least for your sleep deprived bed partner, who suffers right along with you!
