Wedding Favors: Don’t Forget To Say Thank You

January 1st, 2008 Darlyn Posted in Wedding Favors No Comments »

So you are getting married!  Congratulations.  Time to start planning the big event.  There are many details of planning the wedding that you will need to address.   The "big tasks" would include  securing of the wedding gown, the venue where the ceremony will be conducted, the formulation of the guest list, ordering of invitations, arranging for an individual to preside over the ceremony, etc.  But what about the "smaller"  details?.

Don't overlook or ignore the smaller tasks that need to be accomplished.  Often, the small things mean a lot and can add largely to the memories of the special day.  What "smaller" things are we talking about?  Things such as the decorations, flowers, music, etc.

Another small, but very significant enhancement to the wedding day festivities are the wedding favors.  Therefore, understanding what wedding favors are, how to select these favors appropriately and the cost are important topics for discussion.

Wedding Favors?  What Are They Exactly?

Wedding favors are simply small gifts that are provided to the guests of the bride and groom following their attendance at a wedding ceremony.  These small gifts serve as a reminder of the special day that the marital couple and their guests shared together.  Wedding favors also serve as a way of thanking the guests that are in attendance.

When do you distribute you Wedding favors?  Actually, they can be given as the guests go through the reception line.  Another option is to place the wedding favors  at the tables where the guests are seated during the reception.  Also, if the reception is not a formal seated affair,  why not consider giving the guests their  wedding favors at various strategic locations.   Great locations could include a set place near the wedding cake, punch bowl, gift table, etc.  Be as creative as you need to be.  The main goal is that you remember to say "thank you" to your guests for sharing this special day with you.  And that is exactly what wedding favors are for.

Simple & Unique Ideas For Unique Wedding Favors

Fortunately,  there are many possibilities available to couples who may be looking for something simple to offer their guests as wedding favors.   For example, many wedding favors are simply pieces of candy that may be wrapped in foil.  To customize the wedding favor, you simply add the names of the bride and groom and the day of your marriage.

Unique wedding favors may include the printing of the wedding vows on scrolled parchment paper.  This is a particularly unique wedding favor as the vows may be the personal words used by the bride and groom and not the traditional marital vows.  Or the guests may be provided flower seeds or bulbs.  Attached to the seed package could be a love poem or a note comparing the growth of flowers from a seed to the growth of the wedding couple’s love.

What About The Costs?

Another factor to consider when selecting wedding favors is the cost.  There are many expensive and inexpensive items that can be purchased.  The choice of item and their related expense is strictly up to the planners of the wedding.  However, a conservative estimate is that the minimum cost per wedding favor will be around $1.00 per person.

Make sure that your wedding budget is in place before purchasing wedding favors.  Whatever you select should stay within the limits of your budget.  One of the "expense Items" on your wedding budget reflect the specific budget number for wedding favors.

Naturally, the larger your guest list the greater the  number of wedding favors you will need to buy.  Bear this in mind when setting up your wedding budget.   In addition to buying wedding favors for the guests on your lists,  it would be wise to have extra wedding favors.   You don’t want to forget to thank  your  wedding party.
